RGB Mechanical Keyboard Kit Hot-Swap Transparent 104-Key

$42.99

Swap switches in seconds, no iron needed. This 104-key hot-swap kit lets you pull a linear, drop in a tactile, and know immediately if the feel is right. The transparent ABS shell makes your RGB lighting part of the build, not just a backdrop.

The PCB uses pre-installed hot-swap sockets that accept both 3-pin and 5-pin MX-style switches, covering Cherry, Gateron, Kailh, Durock, and most of the mainstream options. A polycarbonate plate (not brass, not aluminum) gives the board a softer flex and a higher-pitched acoustic profile that many typists prefer. The included Windows driver handles per-key RGB mapping and macro assignment without touching firmware.

Things to build with this

  • Wire the per-key RGB zones to your CI pipeline via the driver API so the key row above the numpad flashes red on a failed build and pulses green on a pass, giving you ambient build status without alt-tabbing
  • Remap the entire numpad block using the driver's macro layer to fire single-keypress SSH commands, kubectl rollouts, and git push sequences, effectively turning the right side of the board into a dedicated ops console
  • Hot-swap high-actuation switches (like 100g linears) into specific modifier keys to prototype an accessibility-tuned layout, testing exact force curves for users with limited motor control without committing to solder or a custom PCB order

Key Features

  • Hot-swap sockets: 3-pin and 5-pin MX-style compatible, no desoldering required
  • 104-key full-size layout: numpad, function row, and nav cluster all included
  • PC (polycarbonate) plate: softer flex and brighter sound signature compared to brass or aluminum
  • Per-key addressable RGB: programmable effects and zone mapping via included driver (Windows)
  • Transparent ABS case: light diffuses through the shell, not just the keycaps
  • USB Type-C wired connection: stable, low-latency input with no wireless dropout
  • Standard MX stem keycap compatibility: fits most aftermarket sets including double-shot shine-through

Frequently Asked Questions

Which switches are actually compatible with the hot-swap sockets?

Any MX-style switch with a 3-pin or 5-pin footprint. That covers Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh, and Durock. Alps-style and low-profile switches (Kailh Choc, for example) are not compatible.

Does the driver software work on Linux or macOS?

The included driver is Windows-only. On Linux and macOS the board registers as a standard HID device and types normally, but per-key RGB programming and macro configuration are unavailable. QMK is worth investigating for cross-platform programmability, though out-of-the-box QMK compatibility on this specific PCB is not confirmed.

Which keycaps will show the RGB most clearly?

Look for ABS or PBT double-shot keycaps labeled shine-through or backlit-compatible. Thinner ABS shine-through caps transmit the most light. Thick PBT caps diffuse it more, which softens the effect. The transparent case also throws light outward, so the glow is visible even with opaque keycaps.

Can I solder switches directly to the PCB if I want a permanent build?

Technically yes, but the PCB ships with hot-swap sockets already installed and soldering into them risks lifting the socket pads. Hot-swap is the intended use. If you want a fully soldered build, a barebones PCB without pre-installed sockets would be a better starting point.
