Phone-Powered Desk Sign: An NFC e-ink desk sign you write with your phone
A desk sign you change by holding your phone to it.
People who want a gadget with no setup on a computer, and anyone buying a desk or office gift.
The plan is up. The kit is coming.
We do not sell this as a kit yet. The list at the bottom of this page says what has to happen first.
You need: a phone with NFC (which phones work depends on the badge's app, which we are still checking); the Claude app, to help write the messages; a blank NFC sticker for the optional door sticker, from any store that sells them.

Your first evening
We test this before we promise it
The first evening, as we have written it
We have not run these steps ourselves yet, so read them as a preview. We change anything that does not work before we sell the kit.
Install the badge's app
Install the badge's phone app. We name it here once we have checked it.
Ask Claude for messages
Paste the first prompt below into the Claude app to get a list of short sign messages.
Make one into an image
Turn one message into an image in the badge app.
Write the sign
Hold your phone to the badge to write the sign.
Add a door sticker
Put a sticker on your door that opens a status page, using the link-sticker steps in the Tap Kit plan.
Prompts to paste into Claude
Copy one, paste it, and fill in anything in square brackets. Claude takes it one step at a time.
1. Short sign messages
Paste into the Claude app
Write 8 short desk sign messages, under 20 characters each, for a remote worker.
2. A sign for each day
Paste into the Claude app
Turn this week's calendar into one desk sign per day, under 20 characters each: [paste your week].
3. Do not disturb, nicely
Paste into the Claude app
Suggest 5 funny but polite 'do not disturb' signs for a shared office.
When you have a weekend
A matching nightstand sticker
Follow the Tap Kit plan to add a nightstand sticker that turns on Sleep focus.
These steps follow the makers' own instructions. We have not run them ourselves yet.

Ideas we are still testing
These are written from our research. We run each one before we promise it.
A sign for each day
Plan one sign per day of the week with Claude, then write each morning's sign with your phone.
What it can't do
- It changes only when you hold your phone to it. It is not live and has no WiFi.
- Claude cannot write to it directly. Claude writes the words; the badge app writes the sign.
- Which phones work depends on the badge app, which is not verified yet.
- The listing says it needs no battery. We confirm that in our test build before we sell the kit.
Questions
Before we sell this kit
The plan is yours today. The buy button stays off until each of these is done.
- Find the badge's phone app and test it on an iPhone and an Android phone.
